The new Free Fire Advanced Server OB49 Update was launched by Garena – publisher of the popular battle royale Free Fire – on 21st May 2025! 


Free Fire is a third person survival shooter game and for its 8th Anniversary Celebration, Garena Launched the new OB49 update and introduced the new Solara Map to the game. Earlier in May, the server was made Live in advance and Free Fire Advanced Server Registrations were opened for the players to try out the new features ahead of the official release. You can download the new update for free using Google Play store or the Apple Store. 


We have brought to you a detailed list of everything that you need to know about the update. 


New Features and Gameplay 


Free Fire’s latest update comes loaded with new map, character abilities, weapons, technical upgrades and a lot more.  Below, we have provided a detailed description of everything that is new. 


Solara Map 


Free Fire has a new map after 3 years! The Solara map beautifully blends vibrant natural biomes with near-future sleek urban structures for a dynamic environment. It is smaller than the previous map with a span of 1400×1400m for a fast-paced and thrilling gameplay. Its strategic design and unpredictable combat zones provide opportunities for ‘tactical play, social interaction, and competitive battles’. The centre of the map has a twin-peak mountain with waterfall and is surrounded by modernistic buildings that blend with sci-fi elements. The changing weather system and time-of-day variations also affect visibility movement.  


New zipline networks and surfing board on railings has been introduced for faster travelling across the map.

Rework


Paloma


  • Improved weapon accuracy
  • Can supress enemy and break gloo walls faster
  • Special Ability – Shatterburst : when a gloo wall is destroyed, weapon accuracy increases for 10s

Balance Adjustments


1. Ignis


  • Doubled power for enhanced effectiveness
  • Special Ability – Flame Mirage: Flaming screen would be deployed for 10s; moves at 6m/s. Cooldown – 60s

2. Lila


  • Doubles the Gloo Wall rewards; players will have more Gloo Walls to use
  • Special Ability – Gloo Strike: Hitting an enemy or vehicle will reduce the speed by 10% or 80% respectively for 3s. If enemy has been knocked down, they freeze for 3s. Also, rewards a Gloo wall

3. Luqueta


  • Power curve has been shifted
  • Balanced early and late-stage strength
  • Special Ability – Hat Trick: Maximum shield and power is increased permanently after every elimination

4. Moco


  • Reduced mark duration
  • Special Ability – Enigma’s Eye: Exposes the enemy location and shares it with teammates

5. Luna


  • Good for closed combat
  • Tweaked mobility with older rapid-fire style
  • Special Ability – Fight-or-Flight: Increased firing rate by 8%

Other Adjustments 


  • Voice notification has been added for Homer and Clu 
  • Skyler has an added indicator to notify obstacles in the firing line 
  • Kassie has got improved usability where the player can reactivate the healing bond if they quickly move back into the healing zone. 
  • Kassie, Oscar and Koda get new skill cards 

Weapon Updates 


Weapon adjustments have been made, and rework has been done for more interactive gameplay. 


Adjustments 


1. Assault Rifles 


    • For non-upgradable rifles, strength has been increased 
    • Increased power and Gloo Wall-breaking abilities for upgradable and high-tier rifles 
    • M14 rifle has been changed to a marksman rifle with boosted long-range power 

    2. Machine Guns 


      • Damage and mobility buffs for M68 and M249 
      • Improved Armor penetration 

      3. Heal Pistol 


        • Accuracy has been improved of the healing tool by 20% 

        4. Trogon  


          • For the grenade launcher mode, damage has been boosted by 15% and range by 10% 

          5. Attachments 


            • Helmet Hardner – Damage has been reduced to 10% and durability increased by 10% 
            • Vest HP Booster – Shield points and maximum shield points have been reduced to 20% 
            • Vest Enlarger – Limb damage reduction decreased to 10%, shield points and maximum shield points reduced to 20% 

            Rework 


            1. Kord 


              • Improved performance when fired standing or crouching 
              • It will fire three low-power bullets at a rapid rate when standing. When crouching, it will fire one high-power bullet 

              2. VSS 


                • Bleeding effect and upgrade mechanism has been removed 
                • Fully automatic 3-round burst mechanism has been added. 
                • Improved rate of fire, accuracy and magazine capacity 

                3. Heal Pistol-Y 


                  • Streamlined help up mechanism  
                  • Teammates can be healed by shooting them 
                  • It has no help-up limit 

                  Sound Optimization for Weapons 


                  New combat sound effects have been added so that there is a distinct sound when different objects are hit, such as Gloo Wall, armor, bodies, and destructible crates. Sound effects for hitting vehicles have also been optimized for better distinction. 


                  New Events and Rewards 


                  With its 8th anniversary celebration and the new Solara map, the OB49 update is the most rewarding Free Fire Update yet. There are also exclusive rewards for players who had participated in the Free Fire Advanced Server Registrations.

                  New Camera System

                    • It is possible for players to take pictures or record videos in the lobby alone or with friends. 
                    • Features include adjustable zoom, emote playback, templates, frames, and stickers. 

                    Free Custom Rooms 


                      • Custom rooms are now free with all the original settings. 
                      • Pet Rumble and Pet Mania modes have been removed. 
                      • Friends can be invited to join via links or QR codes. 

                      Optimized HUD System 


                        • HUD share codes can be generated to share HUD settings with friends. 
                        • New HUD button size and transparency customization range. 
                        • More customizable HUD settings have been added such as coin amount, vehicle button, spectator icon, etc.
